Managerial Accounting Taught Differently

The AME Learning System™ is a unique patented teaching approach that is proven to work.
Designed to teach non-financial managers in the business world, the AME Learning System
has evolved to include outstanding accounting courseware for higher education.

Our system incorporates the best of cognitive science, modern technology, and proven learning principles into an active and experiential learning approach that emphasizes constant decision-making, integrated real-world examples and impact over memorization.

With the AME Learning System, students work through multi-sensory interactive online tutorials and learn the key concepts they need to know before they arrive in class. Prepared students mean classroom instructors can focus on the application of core concepts. Instructors have the power to set deadlines and milestones for all resources (including pre-class tutorials) to build a customized course that works for them — and their students.

Overview

Managerial Accounting V4.0 begins with a complete overview that lays a consistent foundation of conceptual and business ethical frameworks.

• Practical Storytelling: Examples have an evolving storyline throughout the text.

• Conceptual Learning vs. Memorization: Examples use straightforward computations with rounded numbers, intuitive charts, frameworks, methods, and interactive graphics.

• Practice: The workbook features Practice Questions in every chapter. These questions focus on individual concepts and calculations for each learning objective. They provide introductory practice before students move on to the more detailed and complex Application Questions.

• Problem Solving in Excel: Theory is great. Application is better! Students use spreadsheet programs to perform calculations, draw graphs, and draft reports.

• Technology: Students access course content on the AME Engage™ technology platform.

What's New

The textbook includes new content, revisions and updates to make it as current and accurate as possible.

A new feature called “Making It Real to You” introduces each chapter, helping students connect the content to their own experiences.

A new “DA Talks” box feature in each chapter provides information and examples about how data analytics impacts the approach of management accountants in addressing the issues discussed in the chapter.

New tutorials added related to Just in time and Quality Management, and Strategic Sustainability; several other tutorials have been updated.

Each chapter closes with a feature called “Sustainability Spotlight.” This material highlights environmental, social and corporate governance issues and exposes students to how these considerations can be incorporated into accounting practices.

The end-of-chapter review exercises are now available in Microsoft Excel templates, downloadable from AME EngageTM. Select tables within the chapters are designed to resemble spreadsheets, highlighting the practical application of Excel in the field of accounting.

A new link feature provides the opportunity to explore the subject matter through additional online sources.

The workbook features a new section of Practice Questions in every chapter. They provide introductory practice before students move on to the more detailed and complex Application Questions. The workbook also includes new Application Questions throughout the chapters to expand the range of difficulty and offer different approaches to the topics.
